About the role:

As the Asset Inspector, you will deliver high-quality inspection services across Council's infrastructure assets, including pavements, kerb and channel, footpaths, drainage pits, signage, line marking, fencing, and other related assets. This role is responsible for identifying, recording, and reporting asset defects, supporting maintenance planning, and contributing to safe, efficient, and proactive asset management practices.

In addition, the role may involve operating plant and equipment, undertaking traffic control, general labouring duties, litter collection, removal of dumped rubbish, maintenance of road and drainage systems, transporting materials, and performing other duties as directed by the Team Leader.

A typical day might include:

  • Implementing and maintaining a proactive asset inspection program, ensuring all findings are accurately recorded and reported, including the identification of defects that may pose safety risks to the public
  • Conducting basic analysis of inspection data to support the development of maintenance programs and prioritisation of works
  • Ensuring all inspections and reporting align with the Shire's Road Management Plan and relevant policies, including undertaking reactive inspections as required
  • Responding to and assisting in the resolution of customer requests and complaints.
  • Working collaboratively with the Sealed Roads & Footpaths team and other Operations Centre crews to ensure activities are carried out in a coordinated and efficient manner.
  • Operating plant and equipment in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements

What you will bring to the role:

  • Experience in conducting asset field inspections, reporting and producing written/photographic/statistical reports
  • Ability to use PC based software applications including MS Office business applications, GIS software and asset management systems
  • Current Victorian driver's licence (Heavy Rigid endorsement preferred but not essential)
