Nillumbik Shire Council is one of the 2023 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work!
What an honour to be awarded sixth place in the prestigious AFR BOSS Best Places to Work List, in the Government, Education and Not-for-Profit category. For the second time in three years, we are the only local government organisation to be recognised in the list, published by the Australian Financial Review and BOSS Magazine.
It’s no easy feat, this year more than 700 organisations were nominated across Australia and New Zealand.
The list, which recognises forward-thinking organisations, is based on a rigorous assessment process managed by Australia’s leading behavioural science consultancy Inventium, that ranks the best workplaces across 10 different industries.
In 2021 we took out third place in the same category of the list.
We’ve proven again that we push boundaries and pioneer new ways of working when it comes to workplace policies and practices.
Some of our recognised achievements and practices are around health and wellbeing, our Mental Health First Aider workforce, our commitment to professional development, and staff survey responses.
CEO Carl Cowie says he is truly honoured to see us included on the list.
We have a deeply passionate, collaborative and driven team here at Nillumbik, who care about what they do and how they do it. I want to thank everyone,” he says.
“We always strive to make a positive impact within the community we serve, and to do that, we aim to help our staff feel supported.
“Our focus continues to be on staff and community wellbeing, and getting the balance right.
The Inventium framework is based on hundreds of research papers from universities including Harvard and Stanford.
