Join our Planning Services Department as Statutory Planning Coordinator and help lead an industry-leading statutory planning service that shapes the future of Nillumbik. As a Statutory Planning Coordinator, you'll guide a team of planners to deliver high-quality planning outcomes that reflect Council's vision and policies.

What a typical day will look like;

  • Lead, mentor and support a team of planners to deliver efficient, customer-focused planning assessments.
  • Review and determine complex planning applications and provide expert advice to staff, Councillors and the community.
  • Oversee workflow, reporting and team performance in collaboration with your job-share counterpart.
  • Represent Council at VCAT and stakeholder meetings, driving positive outcomes and strong relationships.
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation in planning processes and service delivery.

What you will bring to the role;

  • Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in statutory planning, including managing complex applications and leading professional planning teams.
  • Strong leadership capability with experience in leading hybrid teams, demonstrating high emotional intelligence and a supportive, adaptive approach.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop staff, foster collaboration, and lead a culture focused on wellbeing, continuous improvement and best value outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills with a strong customer service focus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Victorian Planning and Environment Act, Subdivisions Act and the Nillumbik Planning Scheme.
