Grader Operator (Internal Applicants Only)

About the role:

The Grader Operator is responsible for providing a high level of skill in the operation of heavy road maintenance equipment including but not limited to grader, heavy rigid vehicle, skid steer loader and front-end loader/backhoe in accordance with the programmed maintenance schedules for unsealed roads, road shoulders and drains. The position will have a commitment to continual improvement in road infrastructure maintenance.

A typical day might include:

  • Operate heavy mechanical plant and equipment, including but not limited to grader, heavy rigid vehicle, skid steer loader and front-end loader/backhoe to maintain unsealed roads network, sealed standards and requirements in timely and efficient manner.
  • Operate heavy mechanical plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner with regard to State laws and Shire safe work practices and OH&S regulations.
  • Provide input into team decision making, improvements to work standards, productivity improvements and the process of job redesign.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Grader ticket
  • Heavy rigid license
  • Provide assistance with on-the-job training, demonstration of safe work methods and mentoring new employees in the operation of heavy mechanical plant and equipment to Grading Crew staff.
