Waste Collection Officer
- Salary range of $69022.11 and $73,587.09 per annum plus 12% super, annual leave loading and allowances
- Permanent full time Position
- Located at 290 Yan Yean Rd, Melbourne Victoria 3090
- Access to fortnightly RDOs
- 16 weeks (pro rata) parental leave and generous personal and carers leave entitlements.
About the role:
We are currently seeking a Waste Collection Officer to join our Waste Operations team! This essential role is responsible for collection and maintenance of street and park litter infrastructure, collection of bins from Council facilities and delivery of additional weekly residential waste services.
This position supports the Waste Operations team by undertaking a range of operational duties under general supervision. As part of the in-house street litter crew, the role involves both driving a waste truck and performing runner duties.
A typical day might include:
- Delivering in-house waste collection services in line with operational and safety procedures
- Providing high-quality customer service and accurate information to members of the public in a friendly and professional manner
- Maximising waste diversion to appropriate recycling streams, including supporting approved initiatives and actively recovering recyclable materials
- Assisting with minor maintenance tasks at the Operations Centre, including litter collection and other duties as directed
- Operating heavy plant and equipment safely and in accordance with procedures
- Undertaking additional duties as directed by the Waste Operations Coordinator.
What you will bring to the role:
- A Medium or Heavy Rigid truck licence, with demonstrated experience operating a rear loader waste collection truck
- The physical capability to perform manual labour, including lifting and manoeuvring bins
- Basic computer skills to complete online training and use devices for pre-start checks and maintenance reporting.
