Sustainability Project Officer

Greensborough, Australia

Reference: 6858227

  • Band 6 salary range of $96,414.06 and $104,911.21 per annum (pro rata salary of between $77,131.25 and $83,928.97) plus 12% super and annual leave loading.
  • Permanent part-time Position (0.8 EFT)
  • Located at 32 Civic Drive, Greensborough VIC 3088
  • Flexible working arrangements available - balance life and work
  • 16 weeks (pro rata) parental leave and generous personal and carers leave entitlements.

About the role:

Join our team and help drive practical sustainability outcomes. As the Sustainability Project Officer, you will plan, coordinate and deliver sustainability initiatives that reduce energy consumption and emissions, improve energy resilience, and support climate-responsive council operations, services and infrastructure.

In this role, no two days are the same, with responsibilities including emissions assessment, project planning and delivery, database management, stakeholder and contractor engagement, site visits, facility audits, reporting, community engagement activities and event support.

A typical day might include:

  • Identify, design and deliver projects that reduce Council's energy use and emissions, including renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy management initiatives
  • Lead Council's greenhouse gas emissions calculations, reporting and data management
  • Support staff across Council to embed ESD and climate action principles in service delivery, infrastructure planning and decision-making
  • Assist with identifying climate risks and helping develop appropriate adaptation and resilience responses
  • Contribute to the development, review and implementation of climate action strategies, policies and annual implementation plans.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, energy, climate studies or related field with relevant experience; or lesser formal qualification with substantial experience
  • Attention to technical details as well as strategic thinking
  • Experience in project management and interpreting data
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing stakeholder expectations throughout projects (essential).
  • Valid Victorian Drivers Licence
