Waste Collection Officer (Internal Applicants Only)

  • Salary range of between $69,022.11 and $73,587.09 per annum plus 12% super, allowances and annual leave loading.
  • Permanent full time Position
  • Access to fortnightly RDOs
  • 16 weeks (pro rata) parental leave and generous personal and carers leave entitlements.

About the role:

As the Waste Collection Officer, you will play a key role in delivering essential services that keep our municipality clean, safe and well maintained. This role provides high-quality public waste and recycling services, supporting community events and festivals, and ensuring public bin infrastructure is well presented and fit for purpose. You will also contribute to broader municipal waste programs and provide operational support across Council facilities.

A typical day might include:

  • Operating Council's rear loading collection vehicle and other vehicles and plant required to complete services in accordance with operational and safety procedures
  • Regular collection of waste from public bins in streets, parks and Council facilities, and cleansing of public waste infrastructure
  • Collection of bins to support the residential kerbside service
  • Assisting with waste collection and minor maintenance tasks at the Nillumbik Operations Centre and at the Recycling and Recovery Centre as directed

What you will bring to the role:

  • A current Victorian Driver's Licence with medium rigid/ heavy endorsement
  • A license to operate forklift and backhoe/loader (desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers and members of the public
  • Understanding Occupational Health and Safety as it applies to the workplace.
