Roads & Drainage Maintenance Officer

Join our Roads and Drains Team! As Roads & Drainage Maintenance Officer, you will provide road and drainage works in accordance with the programmed maintenance of the road and roadside network within the Shire focusing on plant operation, traffic control, general labouring, road and drainage maintenance, hauling materials and other tasks as directed by the Team Leader.

What a typical day will look like;

  • Manage customer expectations and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Provide road and drainage works in accordance with the programmed maintenance of the road and roadside networkWork cooperatively with the Road and Drain Maintenance Team and other crews within Infrastructure by providing assistance to ensure works are undertaken in a planned and coordinated manner.
  • Operate plant and equipment to maintain the Shire civil infrastructure network in a safe efficient manner with regard to Shire work practises and regulations.
  • Carry out team allocated tasks in all weather conditions.
  • Use of electronic devices as required.

What you will bring to the role;

  • Trade certificate (or equivalent), completion of TAFE accredited or industry based training course and/or demonstrated experience in municipal roadside, road and drainage maintenance and traffic management.
  • Current Victorian driver licence with heavy rigid endorsement.
  • Ability to identify and report on risk/public safety issues and follow appropriate reporting procedures.
  • Proven ability to work as employee in charge when required and as a member of a team and gain the respect and cooperation of fellow colleagues.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
