Transfer Station Attendant

Our team are currently on the lookout for a hands-on, safety-focused team member to help operate and maintain Council's Recycling Centre, on a part-time basis. As the Transfer Station Attendant, your day will involve everything from operating heavy machinery like forklifts and backhoes, to supporting waste diversion through active recycling and recovery of materials. You'll be the friendly face assisting the public with recycling information and handling point-of-sale transactions, all while helping keep our site clean, safe, and running smoothly. What a typical day will look like;
- Maintain Council's Recycling Centre according to operational and safety guidelines in accordance with operational and safety procedures.
- Utilise heavy plant machinery, including a backhoe and forklift, in accordance with operational and safety procedures.
- Ensure that high quality customer service information is provided to the public.
- Maximise the diversion of waste to the appropriate recycling stream including assisting in developing new recycling streams and undertaking active recovery of recyclable materials.
- Operate the point of sale EFTPOS machine, update/maintain financial records and complete the daily reconciliation sheet, including open/close of till operations
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks in the Operations Centre, particularly litter collection and other tasks as directed
- Other duties as directed by the Waste Operations Coordinator
What you will bring to the role;
- Valid Victorian Drivers licence
- Desirable licences include a valid Backhoe licence and/ Front-End Loader, High Risk Forklift licence, Medium Rigid Driver's licence, Traffic Control accreditation (stop/ slow bat).
