Community Safety Officer - Local Laws and Traffic

Join our dedicated Community Safety Team and play a key role in enhancing community safety through education and enforcement. As the Community Safety Officer - Local Laws and Traffic, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with parking regulations and local community laws. In addition, you'll support animal management and assist by supervising school crossings when required.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the community, fostering positive relationships while collaborating with fellow officers to deliver high-quality service. What a typical day will look like;

  • Educating the community on local laws, traffic regulations, litter control, and domestic animal management while ensuring compliance with the Nillumbik General Local Law 1 and relevant state laws.
  • Work with the Community Safety team and senior staff to deliver effective community safety services in the Nillumbik region.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to complaints, and providing education to promote community awareness and compliance.
  • Complete periodic inspections, audits, and investigations to ensure that the community follows regulations and maintains safety standards, thus contributing to the overall well-being of the Nillumbik area.

What you will bring to the role;

  • Post-secondary qualifications (Cert IV or above) in Statutory Compliance or demonstrated previous knowledge and experience in a statutory compliance role.
